During this one day workshop you will have the opportunity to:
- Hear and discuss Simon Heywood’s work
- Explore the basic elements, skills and involved in songwriting
- Take a fresh look at approaches to traditional songs and songwriting
- Work on your existing material
- Go home with some new ideas or even a new song

The workshop is suitable for those with an interest in songwriting, some previous experience would be useful.  You can bring your work along, to try out and share with the group.  Please feel free to bring an instrument along too!

Simon Heywood
Simon Heywood is a storyteller, songwriter, musician and folklorist. He lectures on the Creative Writing degree at Derby University and has been telling stories publicly since 1990. He has written music for a number of storytelling projects including The Twisting Field and The Middle Yard, based on Irish mythology. His songs and music have been widely performed and recorded.
