Young Storyteller of the Year
Young Tongues storytelling competition took place on March 8th in Birmingham. The judges were storytellers Hugh Lupton and Jan Blake for the over 18s and Rona Barbour joined them for the judging of the 15-18s.
Fiona Collins, the event organiser said, ‘We were delighted by the success of the day and received many positive comments from audience and competitors alike. There really was a great buzz, as those of you who were there will know. Thanks to everyone involved for making the day so successful. Young Storyteller of the Year continues to be of great benefit to the young people involved.’
The Society for Storytelling awarded a years membership to all the winners and one years free entry in the Directory of Storytellers for the top Young Storyteller of the Year. Other prizes included performance spots at Festival at the Edge and Whitby Folk Festival and under 18s received a cash prize.
